The Caring Collection by Bobbie Burnett

On Monday our staff, as ambassadors of The Community Smile Network, volunteered for Ms. Bobbie Burnett, founder of the non-profit organization, The Caring Collection. Bobbie and her many helpers are repsonsible for raising nearly $845,000 for cancer related projects at AAMC and Johns Hopkins. Proceeds are from the sale of beautifully crafted stained glass angels and suncatchers.
We were excited to participate and learned many new skills...glass tracing and etching, glass cutting, application of copper foil, and assembly of suncatchers.
We will continue to help Bobbie in reaching her goal of $1 million dollars in donations to cancer research funding by making her angels, one wing at a time!

The Community Smile Network; community service based financing

The Community Smile Network is a pilot program to be launched  next week in our office and is designed to offset orthodontic cost in exchange for community service. Participation in the program is simple; a patient can expect to receive a $10 credit to their account for every verifiable hour of volunteer service worked. Account credit can be as much as 10% for phase I treatment and 20% for phase II, full braces, and Invisalign treatment. The hours spent in volunteering are not limited to just the patient. In fact, we encourage other family members to participate in volunteerism and endorse their service voucher to the patient. We are working closely with the Volunteer Center of Anne Arundel County in our efforts to coordinate service opportunities. Our office has a list of non-profit organizations available upon request. A full listing with descriptions will be posted shortly on our new website currently under construction. If you would like details on The Community Smile Network or a list of volunteer opportunities please call our office at 410-280-2484 or email us info@smilesbythebay.com
